We are so excited to have Stanley a part of our first gallery show. Join us this February First Friday the 1st from 5pm to 7pm at the Bean Cycle Cafe & Wolverine Farm Bookstore 144 North College Ave., Old Town Fort Collins. Here’s a little bit about the work Stanley does and a sneak peek of what he’ll be showing:
Stanley Scott is a Fort Collins-based Artist specializing in drawing and printmaking. He has exhibited his work in various national juried shows and has had solo exhibitions at University Galleries in Boston, Ohio and Colorado. He will be featured as an emerging artist this summer in the Cherry Creek Arts Festival in Denver.
The works featured in this exhibit will show two sides to his work. The figurative woodcut print titled “Rockin’ It” features a female figure displaying traditional martyr iconography reserved for saints in catholic tradition, but with a modern-punk twist.
In the oil painting “Space Construct # 3”, space is constructed and dissected through elements of architecture. The constructed elements in this series aim to bring the viewer into the work by creating an ambiguity within the image and allowing objects to emerge and recede into the space implied on the page. This mystery is what keeps us seeking and engaged as a viewer.
