We are so excited to have Claudia a part of our first ever Springtime Craft Market! Join us Sunday, April 21st, from from 11am to 4pm, in front of the Fort Collins Food Coop on Mountain Avenue in Old Town Fort Collins. Here’s a little bit about the work Claudia does and a sneak peek of what she’ll be showing:
Claudia Santillan-Lensink is a mixed media artist and craftswoman living in Fort Collins. Her primary focus is creating new and vibrant decorative and functional art from not-so-new materials. What started as a serendipitous rummage sale find in 2005 has turned into Junipurse, a full-fledged obsession for making fun accessories and totes from repurposed materials. Her studio space is filled with shelves of upholstery swatches, tins full of buttons, lengths of retired billboard vinyl, and tubs full of aluminum cans in varying states of deconstruction.
“I start each project by combing through my upholstery swatch collection to find fun combinations of colors, patterns, and textures. After assembling my palette, I enjoying adding decorative accents like buttons and ribbons. I love the opportunity to highlight the beauty and elegance of these fun fabrics. I’m particularly excited about my bottle cage bags right now. These bags can attach to your bike or wrist and are perfect for carrying the basics. They also make great cosmetic bags and cases for art materials. I’m excited to be a part of the Spring Freedom Market!”
