We are excited to announce our first Holiday Market artist: Megan Adkins of The Light Project. Here’s a little interview we did with Megan about the work she does. Check out her etsy shop at http://thelightproject.etsy.com and be sure to visit her table at the market on December 14th inside the Bean Cycle & Wolverine Farm Bookstore.
Tell us a little bit about yourself!
I am a vegetarian, feminist, artist, wife, coffee drinker, and photographer! Phew!
What do you make and what materials/tools do you use?
I make A LOT, but for the Freedom Market I will be selling photographs. My favorite paper is an 80lb card stock from a local print shop called The Print Cafe (where I also work, lucky photographer!) and I literally use any camera I have on me, sometimes even my iPhone! My “real” camera is a Nikon D5100 and she is my baby.
What inspires you to create your art?
I am inspired by a few things. First, the people in my life. They are gracious and model for me often, and allow me to do all sorts of crazy things to the pictures of them. My friends all have great personal styles and are so fun to photograph. I am also inspired by nature and how we as humans interact with it, and how nature interacts with man-made landscapes.
Describe the perfect Colorado day:
My perfect Colorado day is around 60-70 degrees and gloomy. I love dark weather, it makes the landscape appear high-contrast and is my favorite light for taking photos.
