Kyra Nance of Sylvastine carves fine kitchen utensils out of wood in her garage workshop in Fort Collins. Sylvastine’s spoons, scoops, spatulas, spreaders, butter knives, pie servers, and cutting and serving boards are hand carved, sanded, and oiled, using a combination of power and hand tools, including a bandsaw and many different chisels, gauges and carving knives.
Much of the wood used is reclaimed from the yards and gardens of Fort Collins or bought as scrap at a local lumberyard. Each piece carries a story in the unique knots and swirls of the wood, and is a true artisan product.
2016 is Sylvastine’s first year at the Freedom Market, and we can’t wait to see Kyra’s gorgeous work at the Bean Cycle this weekend.
This year’s Freedom Market will be held on Saturday, December 10 at the Bean Cycle/Wolverine Farm Bookstore in Fort Collins, Colorado. The show runs from 9am until 3pm.
